BIOGRAPHY
Marie Sherr began training as a ballet dancer when she was five years old. She danced and studied at Iowa Dance Theatre, Johnston Dance Academy and the Joffery Ballet School. Eventually, she began teaching dance to all ages. After a knee injury and surgery she hung up her pointe shoes and began dancing with the modern dance company, Chamber Dancers.

Upon moving to NYC she was introduced to the Pilates Method and fell in love with the workout. Pilates helped her continue to strengthen her knee and truly master her body and mind. She began amassing her prerequisite hours of Pilates training, auditioned and was accepted into The Pilates Studio certification program. Under the tutelage of Joseph Pilates' protégé, Romana Kryzanowska, Marie became an Authentically Certified Pilates Instructor in 2002.

She taught at many well known studios and gyms in NYC, re:AB Pilates, The Pilates Studio, Premier Physical Therapy, Prospect Park YMCA, The Center for Movement and Fiore Pilates. Marie developed a following and began training her own private clientele, creating specialized Pilates workouts for all body types, abilities and ages. Over the years she has continued to further her education by training with Pilates masters such as Bob Liekens, Brooke Siler, Cynthia Lochard, Kathy Corey, Kathy Grant, Michael Fritzke, Peter Fiasca and Ton Voogt.

Marie has taken her NYC based pilates practice to Durham, North Carolina. Her experience is unique to the area and she is looking forward to bringing her Classical Pilates style into your life.
